BLUE ÖYSTER CULT
Formerly known as Soft White Underbelly (and having used that name later as well), Blue Öyster Cult became synonymous with the heavy metal genre, late in the 1970s and 1980s, even though their musical stylings were much more varied than that. Unlike other bands, B.Ö.C. used outside writers, most notably Patti Smith, author Michael Moorcock, and their producer, Sandy Pearlman, whose lyrical content often would be of mystical, occultish, and spacey genres. The band formed in 1967. Its main (classic) line-up of members consisted of vocalist / guitarist Eric Bloom, guitarist / vocalist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, keyboardist / guitarist Allan Lanier, and brothers Albert and Joe Bouchard on drums and bass.
