- Considered by many to be one of the best hard rock / pop bands out of America. For all their hits, Cheap Trick has not gotten the notoriety that they deserved, although garnering huge respect and accolades from musicians in all genres. This is a band that always knew how to concieve a pop song with catchy hooks. The band primarily consisted of vocalist / guitarist Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielsen, drummer Bun E. Carlos (Brad Carlson) and bassist Tom Petersson. Petersson had left the band between 1980 to 1987, and was replaced by (very temporary) Pete Comita, and (the longer lasting) Jon Brant. Two quick notes about Carlos' name: 1) Carlos had been a rather large child growing up and was nicknamed "Bun" to be short for Paul Bunyan (of American folklore fame). 2) Nielsen had not wanted people thinking that Cheap Trick was a Scandinavian band due to all of their surnames, so Brad's name became Carlos in place of Carlson.
