- Canadian hard rock band Coney Hatch had the look and the chops to make it, but for some reason just never caught on. Such was the story for many really good bands during the 1980s - and it seemed especially so for several exceptional Canadian bands who somehow never got the proper foothold in the United States (which was considered the musicial motherload of success). Here they were touring for their third and final release, "Friction." Gone was the original drummer Dave "Thumper" Ketchum, and the band was garnering some notice from fans, but alas "Friction" fizzled. The band here was opening up for Accept and Rough Cutt on their American tour. They performed at the Civic Auditorium in San Jose, CA on Tues. May 14, 1985. The band at this point consisted of bassist / vocalist Andy Curran, lead vocalist / rhythm guitarist Carl Dixon, lead guitarist Steve Shelski, and new drummer Barry Connors.
