Def Leppard - 05/24/1980 - Oakland Auditorium - Oakland, CA
Def Leppard on their first tour, as a support act for Pat Travers. This show was on May 24, 1980 at Oakland Auditorium in Oakland, CA, with opening act Russia (which was not a particularly popular name at that time). The band at this point consisted of the original members - vocalist Joe Elliott, bassist Rick "Sav" Savage, drummer Rick Allen, and guitarists Steve Clark (now deceased) and Pete Willis. This tour proved quite succesful in promoting the British band in America, even if the band members themselves were a bit wasted to remember much (as the song goes). As I had snuck my camera - Olympus OM-10 - in, and had to deal with the frenzied crowd, the photos were scare and blurry. But they do serve as a fun reminder of the show for those who remember.
