- One of Southern California's greatest creations, at least in the realm of punk rock, was The Dickies. Erected around the late 1970s, this band has definitely gone through plenty of changes, but has always maintained its musical abilities, and its sense of humor. At times touted as the greatest (or just fastest) cover band around, The Dickies have certainly written their fair share of extremely catchy, usually fast, punk rock gems. This is a band who should have become huge, and made millions, if only writing songs for cartoons, childrens' shows, and video games. But it never happened. But the band goes on, thankfully. The primary two members have been vocalist Leonard Graves Phillips, and guitarist Stan Lee. Since the early 1980s the band has basically been a revolving door of punk rock musical names.
