- Fleetwood Mac performing at Oakland Arena in Oakland, CA on September 20, 1982. The band consisted of vocalist Stevie Nicks, guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham, bassist John McVie, drummer Mick Fleetwood, and keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie.
This show was apparently "meant to be" photographically speaking. I had decided late in the day to go to the show and couldn't find anyone to go with me. I drove up by myself, somehow talked the parking attendant into letting me park for free. I then spilled some story to the ticket-taker and just walked in free - while having snuck my camera in. I sat in the mid-balcony until after the middle of the show when crowds started to rush the stage. I made my way up to the front and began to shoot a few photos. Stevie Nicks, in mid-song, saw me with my camera aiming at her. She stopped singing for a moment, kneeled down on the stage, pointed her fisted arm towards me. I quickly took the photo as the unbelievable opportunity hit me. She smiled and nodded and continued singing. That particular photo (as seen below) became one of my most popular works. It's funny how chances come our way.
