- The mighty KISS, at the Cow Palace in Daly City (just south of San Francisco), CA on Sun. November 25, 1979. KISS was on the "Return Of KISS" tour (for the album "Dynasty"), which would be the last tour for the band as the original foursome - Gene Simmons (bass/vocals), Paul Stanley (guitar/vocals), Ace Frehely (guitar/vocals), and Peter Criss (drums). As it was, "Dynasty" had been recorded with studio drummer Anton Fig - except for one song featuring Criss, who played his last show with the band in December 1979 (until the reunion in the 1990s). Although, by this point, tensions were high within the band, and audience attendance was dropping, this was still a bombastic show experience, replete with foam KISS sponges dropping at the performance end. KISS may have been stuck between the disco, and the newer punk/New Wave eras, but they still delivered.
One thing to note is that all photos herein were taken with a Kodak 110 Instamatic camera. For you younger types, that's the film camera with the really tiny negatives. These required very little Photoshopping, for clarity only. Also, opening the concert was The Rockets, who had two minor radio hits, "Turn Up The Radio," and a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well."
