- Mad Anthony, the ultimate party band of the S.F. Bay Area in the 1980s, returned after a long hiatus (which some would call a break-up, including the band themselves). They were dragged out of hibernation for this all-star reunion at the Saddlerack. This was the Niles Station Reunion on Sunday, September 28, 2008. Missing second guitarist Mark "Freezer" Freseman, the band consisted of vocalist Rik Bernal, guitarist Ralph Longo, drummer James Bohn, and bassist Randy Dial. This was no ordinary performance, nor is this a regular band. Expect the unexpected. In the first few notes of the opening song, a roadie apparently tripped and knocked over Ralph Longo's amp - rendering him soundless. This kicking over of equipment is usually reserved as a finale of a show, but not for Mad Anthony. Then came the plaguing eternal buzzing sounds. And of course Rik's shaved look, and Ralph's newly adopted Cholo style of dress. Oh yeah! This was not the 1980s hair-bears of yesteryear. Mad Anthony had arrived in punk rock flair, even if their music was still melodic hard rock. This show cemented the band back into what they did best - party with the best of them.
