Primus was one of the best-known later day bands out of the S.F. Bay Area, although quite a removal from the earlier 60s/70s hippie rock, or the later thrash-metal movement. The band primarily consisted of bassist / vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde, and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander, although Bryan "Brain" Mantia filled in on drums during a time as well.
