- The classic band that almost defined the Goth genre (although the band highly disputes the claim, or the title), The Cure is one of the most unique bands of their kind. Mixing a blend of ambient layered structure with guitars and keyboards over a steady drive of bass and drums, their music was one that draws a listener in and doesn't let go. The classic "Love Song" or "Fascination Street" are two good examples. The band had decided to embark upon a tour in 2007, but had opted to cancel the tour in favor of recording a new CD. Keeping their commitments, The Cure did perform at one venue for the Download Festival at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mt View, CA in October of 2007, and two shows in Mexico before entering the studio. Finishing recording, the band resumed their touring plans, and maintained a stripped down version of the band, which consisted of Robert Smith on vocals and guitar, the Porl Thompson on guitar, the ever-popular Simon Gallup on bass, and drummer Jason Cooper. This particular show was the continuation of the 2007 postponed tour, and was held at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA on May 8, 2008.
